From Virat Kohli's serene and biophilic retreat in Alibag to Sonam Kapoor's maximalist paradise in the Maximum City, here is AD's selection of the most beautiful celebrity homes of 2024. The homes of these celebrities are as captivating as the owners themselves, and offer a fleeting, yet intimate glimpse into their inner lives.
Virat Kohli's Alibag Home
Alibag is quiet, clean, verdant, and offers glamorously expansive properties, which makes it the prime attraction for celebrities. However, for Virat Kohli, the draw to Alibag lies in its proximity to Mumbai. He shares, “Here, we have a completely different world, a home away from the hustle and bustle of the city. With so much going on all the time, it’s nice to be away from the chaos, and Alibag allows us to do that.”
Built over a 10,000-square-foot plot by globally acclaimed architects at SAOTA, led by Phillippe Fouché, Virat Kohli's Californian Konkan-style four-bedroom villa in Alibag celebrates “raw luxury’’. The nonchalance of California and the romantic minimalism of the Konkan coast are brought to life by the home’s high ceilings—featuring natural hardwood that creates harmony throughout the first floor—and an elaborate open layout. Bathed in the glow of natural light streaming through expansive windows and glass walls, it commits to sophistication and sustainability, qualities that resonated with Virat’s idea of a holiday home.

Ananya Panday's First Home in Mumbai
If the big pink door at the entrance doesn’t give it away, Ananya Panday’s home is undeniably “girly” in an effortless way, and reminds one of recent trends that brazenly reclaim elements associated with girlhood – powder pinks, florals, ribbons, big bows – as statement design features. The pink continues through the main corridor and makes appearances as accent walls in the walk-in closet, which she acknowledges is possibly “every little girl’s dream,” as well as the bedroom.
Gauri Khan was the obvious choice for the interiors. Having done homes for Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Siddharth Malhotra, and others, Khan seems to be the indisputable queen of Bollywood home interiors, and having a space featuring her signature designs almost serves as a rite of passage in the industry.

Jaaved Jaaferi's Bandra Home
Jaaved's recent move to Bandra is inspired by sentimental reverence, not just for the coastal suburb but also for his two elder children, Meezaan and Alaviaa. “I’ve been a Bandra boy all my life; I was here for 40 years,’’ Jaaved shares endearingly. He adds, “I lived in my first home, where I was born, for 15 years, and then a few years at my second home, before moving to a house with my children in Lokhandwala’’. A short walk down memory lane conjures up echoes of his first home with eggshell walls, curved edges, and rough corners—a Mediterranean redolence.
After hours of discussion and brainstorming, his succinct brief to Kush Bhayani of KULx Studio was to create a space with minimal sophistication. “Warm, natural, eclectic.’’ And so, Kush, with the help of Polyfloors India, designed a home that hangs heavy with history…a mature, expansive twin of his family home with Mediterranean design ethos. To harmoniously tie the 7,000-square-foot abode, overlooking the deceptively placid Arabian Sea, Kush resorted to the shades of the earth, a refreshing sight to behold.

Madhuri Dixit's Art-Filled Home in Mumbai
Madhuri Dixit and her husband Dr Nene, had a clear vision for their home, “a sanctuary that blends contemporary aesthetics with a minimalist undertone, emphasising straight lines, clean forms, and a sober palette’’. This convinced Apoorva Shroff of Lyth Design to use a “neutral interior palette that complements the homeowners' vibrant personalities’’. Madhuri and Dr Nene resorted to “simplicity"— a timeless template that feels like home. Understated elegance reaches a fabulous zenith, creating an atmosphere that “evokes calm, clarity, and comfort,’’ says Apoorva.
In addition to her millions of admirers, Madhuri Dixit became a muse to many, most notably Indian modernist MF Husain. Husain's viscerally vibrant paintings, which he painted exclusively for Madhuri, are the axis of the home's design language. Everywhere around the house, Husain's artwork encourages conversations. Madhuri says, “Husain Ji wanted to paint the walls of my home, but I objected on the account of moving, so he painted me some of his finest works.’’

Sonam Kapoor's Maximalist Paradise in Mumbai
Sonam Kapoor may be one of Bollywood’s most loved actors, but she is also, with growing stealth, a renaissance woman. With an eye for heritage—belying her 39 years, Kapoor has curated a succession of interiors that make for one of the most beautiful celebrity homes of 2024. The roots of such design derring-do can be traced back in Kapoor’s DNA to a matriarchal line of women with a talent for interiors.
Kapoor invited her celebrated aunt, AD100 designer Kavita Singh, to collaborate with her on the new project. The pair threw themselves into transforming the contemporary blank canvas into, in Singh’s words, “the homage to Indian craftsmanship that my niece has been imagining for a long time”. Over the course of a year, aunt and niece took on the 7,500-square-foot space and began a process of layering to give the impression of a home lived in for generations.
