About

Blanc White is a bespoke studio based in Mumbai, specialising in tactile and textured wall sculptures that celebrate a minimalist aesthetic, with mindful slow production. Every piece is customised and created specifically for a space, often using waste material.

The principal artist, Megha Shah, spent 10 years in the media, working for publications like GQ, Financial Times, Hindustan Times and Verve. Following a high-stress and chaotic work life, as a former Lifestyle and Digital Editor, she found solace in the meditative act of creating by hand.

“Art often tends to depict what the artist sees around them,” she says. “A God, a scene, an emotion. My work invites you to be present, without associations. It’s a celebration of the now, a respite for the anxious mind, so it can enjoy a moment of stillness without distractions.”

The wall sculptures she creates aim to blend seamlessly into any contemporary space, while creating a statement with their rawness and tactility.

She uses industrial materials that are upcycled, recycled and re-used, including discarded textile, newspapers, jute, sand and even nuts and bolts.

Plugging a gap for accessible, yet design-forward art, Blanc White has, in a short period of time, established itself amongst the design community, having completed several projects across major cities in India and International hubs like Dubai and Singapore as well.

Every wall sculpture, wall relief, mural and even mirrors are hand-made to order and can be customised to the requirements of any space.

“My work lives at the intersection of full and empty. It strives to be both simple yet striking,” she concludes. “My goal is to turn any wall into a conversation starter.”
