Radhika Seth has her answer to the common dinner party question, “If you had to choose an alternate career, what would it be?” ready to go. The content creator-actor-podcaster-entrepreneur would happily add 'interior designer' to her ever-expanding repertoire. Yet, unlike most of us, Seth's answer isn't rooted in frivolous fantasies. When the situation presented itself, she rose to the occasion with great enthusiasm and designed her sprawling Mumbai apartment, just shy of 2,000 square feet, in an unfathomable time frame of two weeks. The result? A sleek, contemporary space swathed in shades of ecru, ivory, and beige, sprinkled throughout with Gen Z trimmings, that is wholly and truly an expression of Seth's personality.
A Two-Week Transformation
When Seth signed her lease, it was for a bare shell apartment with the civil work complete. Wanting to move in as soon as possible, she gave herself a strict deadline to get the apartment ready. “I think it was probably the most hectic two weeks of my life,” she says. “I would call my vendors morning, day, and night. I wouldn't eat; I would just sit in the dust all day, making sure there weren't any snags.”
Young, Spirited, And Contemporary
Soft curves, light woods, and a neutral colour palette: Seth's home embodies the quintessential definition of contemporary designᅳbut only at its base. It is layered with details that bring it to life; from whimsical lights to unique mirrors, her personality shines through a striking curation of objects. Subtle veneers of eclecticism emerge throughout, manifesting as bold silver tables and ornate wall mouldings. Seth was keen on a neutral aesthetic but eschewed the idea of a space that lacked any warmth or character. She relied on textureᅳplush fabrics, soft throws, and intricate patterns that brought forth tactile richness, adding nuance without disrupting the simplicity of the design.
Instagram-Friendly Interiors
In many ways, Seth's home is an investment in her career as a content creator and podcaster. “The way I designed it was kind of to complement the way that I shoot all the time. I record my podcast here, along with all of my content. Every single thing that I do is shot in my apartment.” However, she goes on to add, “But I still feel like if I wasn't a content creator, I think my house would still pretty much look exactly like this.”
One of the most compelling highlights of the home is an expansive walk-in closet, converted from one of the three bedrooms. For Radhika Seth, who was part of the “Hannah Montana generation” growing up, the walk-in was a lifelong dream realised. “Obviously, work requires it as well,” she says. “I spend a lot of my time in my walk-in, getting ready with my team and stylists. So I feel like it was an absolute requirement for me to have.”
Ultimately however, Seth's home is a space of contrasts. On one hand, it doubles as her studio, her office, and a backdrop for her online persona. On the other, it is a physical foil to the dizzying, fast-paced life of a content creator, where layers of the digital world are peeled back to reveal a tangible sanctuary of calm.
