Designed by Antare Tare and her team at About the Design, this small Mumbai home at 850 square feet adapts the Japandi style of design, a mix of Japanese and Scandi styles, featuring natural wood and linear forms. The easy-going style of design ensures that maximum space can be utilised without compromising on style or aesthetics. The homeowners were looking for a space that provided plenty of air and light, and the muted palette adapted across the house helps to do the same.

The living room features oak furnishings. Adjacent to the living area is a charming balcony with a stunning view of the city, textured walls, and patterned tiles. White laminates and a prominent white marble countertop define the galley kitchen. Both the bedrooms in the apartment are equipped with minimalistic decor. The major features of this charming Mumbai home are its bright colours and well-thought-out layout.

A 450-square-foot home in Bengaluru

Drawing inspiration from Japan’s wabi-sabi style of design, House of Ruya designs a 450-square-foot compact home for a young couple. This sanctuary away from the IT hub of India provides soothing backdrops and earthy tones. A lime-wash texture wall graces the foyer, and the wall is adorned with red dot art by Ishika Shandilya. The foyer leads to a living room where a custom white bounce sofa faces an entertainment unit atop a round rug by Loops by lj. The dining nook sits behind the sofa, facing an open kitchen.

The master bedroom is accessed through the arch doorway. The bedroom is furnished with a comfortable white chair, a sleek wardrobe, and a compact bed. The chair serves as a cosy reading nook. The bathroom's black Kohler fixtures go well with its grey tiling. The home makes excellent use of space and is both stylish and comfortable.

A 870-square-foot home in Mumbai

Janvi Mehta turned the small 870 square feet space into an opulent home fit for a family of four. Located in the bustling Lower Parel neighbourhood of Mumbai, this two bedroom apartment details understated opulence. A tastefully decorated living area with textured pearl white walls is accessible through the main door. The is L-shaped sofa serves as the focal point in the living area. An entertainment unit is placed opposite, with a little desk tacked onto the far corner. The dining area and living room are connected with a grey accent wall to maintain coherence. In the dining area sits a sumptuous granite-topped dining table and matching chairs. The kitchen, which contains cabinets to hold cutlery, is connected to the dining room via the wall next to it, doubling as a serving station.

The living area opens into a hallway that leads to the bedrooms. The parent's bedroom uses a sophisticated yet understated colour scheme to convey affluence. Directly across from the door, an arc-shaped mirror gives the impression of greater space. The room is highlighted and accentuated with metallic gold embellishments. The children's bedroom has a colour scheme of white and brown with accents of blue and pink. During the day, the room has plenty of space thanks to the convertible Murphy bed which can be folded in when not in use. Even though compact, this small home serves all requirements of its residents.

A 700-square-foot home in Mumbai

Actor Mithila Palkar's 700-square-foot home, located in Dadar, provides a spectacular view of the the Bandra-Worli sea link. The house is styled in Scandinavian minimalism. Designed by the actors’s best friend, Rutuja Tulsulkar there was a sense of greater trust placed in the designer.

Grey hues, white terrazzo flooring, and light wood are used in the celebrity's apartment décor. An egg-shaped coffee table adds subtlety, and an orange couch rests on a textured rug from the weaver. A hint of tropical vibe can be seen on the wall behind the bed in the bedroom, the full-length folds seamlessly in the cabinet, providing functionality. The house excels in its simple design concept.

A 464-square-foot home in Mumbai

Architects Kunal Gupta and Nidhi Bhatt of Studio KNest were on a mission to bring elegance to a compact space when designing a 464-square-foot home in Mumbai. They wanted to design the house in a manner where it stays spacious and adapts well to its residents' needs. Grey and white tones conquer the colour palette. A love seat in royal blue and a cream-coloured sofa bed fill the space in the living room. The modest kitchen features a mix of monotone and greys.

The bedroom is simple, with a double bed and a dressing area. There are sleek geometric components in this area. The wardrobe's dark grey hues go well with the white walls. The entire space has wooden fixtures, and one side of it has a cube window that lets in a plenty of natural light. The house is finished with intriguing yet simple elements.

A 295-square-foot home in Mumbai

Architects Disha Nayar and Umal Patil, converted a modest 295-square-foot studio apartment in Mumbai into a completely furnished residence. They employed a relaxed colour scheme to do so, creating the illusion of greater space. The remodel prioritised using lots of storage and an all-white colour scheme.

The powder blue bespoke couch in the living area, with a small coffee table opposite from it, takes centre stage, and the foyer wall doubles as a breakfast bar. The TV and compact media unit are located across from the couch, and the area is flooded with natural light thanks to the huge window next to it. On the opposite end of the studio are the bathroom and bedroom. There is storage underneath the platform. Beside it in the bedroom is a full-length wardrobe with an attached mirror and a custom accent wall with a banana leaf look. The house exudes bohemian charm.

A 800-square-foot home in Mumbai

Designed by architect Priyank Mehta of Studio PM, this 800-square-foot 2 BHK in Mumbai screams luxury. The opulence is clear from the moment one enters. Pleated ash wood walls lead you to the interior of the house, with a glass door separating the kitchen and the dining area, which is placed at the nook of the living area. The mirror wall next to it occupies the washing machine and the dryer. The living area features a grey couch and a mixture of textures across the walls.

A mix of Japanese and wabi-sabi aesthetics are spread throughout the house. Beige with hints of grey and brown dominates the colour palette. The bedroom features a wood door and beige walls, and the wardrobe is etched with marquetry using five veneers in the shape of mountains. The galley kitchen features wood furniture with white walls and countertops.

A 720-square-foot home in Mumbai

This 720-square-foot Juhu home accommodates a family of four. Studio Muktinidhi redesigned this cosy abode to flourish with more light and provide as much space as possible. To do this, they replaced the living room passageway wall with a glass wall. The house is cohesive in its design; the sofa is placed against an accent grid wall with an eggshell tone. The glass passage wall also features grids to maintain cohesiveness.

The dining room and living room co-exist as one, with only limited furniture to save space. A monotone grey slate has been employed in the kitchen. A playful vibe oozes from the children’s room, with a Murphy bed employed to provide it with more space. The room features light wooden details, bright yellow bookshelves, and Lego-like walls. Floor-to-ceiling wardrobes are installed in the master bedroom, to provide ample storage. The palette of the room is breezy and light to match the rest of the house.

A 765-square-foot home in Mumbai

This 765-square-foot Mumbai vacation house is owned by a couple who sought to infuse the city with Greek charm. This small area, created by 27MM Collaborative, is inspired by Greek villas. This colourful residence, perched atop Lokhandwala's high rise, combines Greek philosophy with a bright colour scheme. A pistachio green shoe and crockery storage area with a wooden seat is located in the foyer, accessed through a main entrance that is a solitaire blue colour with antique golden hardware. Next to the dining nook is a custom-built terrazzo table made of teak wood. The media unit is a late wooden wall that has a TV fixed to it. There's an electric fireplace beneath the TV.

Bold colours and playful use of arches provide the home with a flawless European aesthetic. Crittall doors separate the living area from the balcony, flooding the living area with sunlight. A grey sofa and a set of light wood coffee tables adorn the living area. The balcony features a Greek-inspired white-washed stone wall, contrasting with a dark walnut ceiling. Tropical-patterned tiles laid in the kitchen fills it with a playful vibe. Wooden details with a rustic palette shine across the bedrooms.
